| GGM Science College celebrates International Democracy Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 15: In connection with the International Democracy Day, NSS Unit 1 of GGM Science College Jammu held a webinar to sensitize the students to raise awareness about the importance of international democracy day and to inspire positive approach towards democracy.
The webinar was organized under banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav with the theme "COVID-19: A Spotlight on Democracy" under supervision of Dr. Narinder Kumar NSS PO, and guidance of worthy Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo. Dr. R.A.Malik a well known educationist and former director of research institute at Eritrea was the main resource person on the occasion.
Dr. Malik threw a detailed light on the history that United Nations (UN) General Assembly passed a resolution in 2007 that September 15 of each year would be observed as the International Democracy Day. He added that main aim of this day is to promote role of government in maintaining open democracy among all member nations and to celebrate the system of values democracy promotes, giving citizens the power to make decisions regarding all aspects of their lives.
NSS PO Dr. Narinder Kumar in his welcome, address give a brief introduction why do democracy day is celebrated and Tajesvani read the message of UNO Secretary General on this day. The webinar ended with a special vote of thanks by the NSS PO. |
