Police arrests 7 drug peddlers in, Narcotic like substance recovered, case registered

BARAMULLA, Sept 18: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 07 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Nanak Bhawan Baramulla intercepted 04 persons identified as Mohd Safeer Jagwal resident of Bandi Sarai Uri, Ab Rashid Bhat resident of Saripora Rafiabad, Mohd Yousuf Gojri resident of Mohalla Syed Karim Baramulla and Aijaz Ahmad Rather resident of Magraypora Wussan Pattan.
During checking, officers were able to recover 970 grams of Heroin from their possession.
Similarly in another action, officers from PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Dewanbagh Baramulla intercepted 03 persons identified as Mohd Ashraf Wani resident of Drangbal Baramulla A/P Poshbagh Fatehpora, Ab Lattef Shah resident of Garkote Uri and Shahid Majeed Bhat resident of Mohalla Mir Sahib Baramulla.
During checking, officers were able to recover 300 grams of Heroin from their possession.
They have been arrested and shifted to Police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, Police have registered cases under relevant sections of law at Police Station Baramulla and further investigations have been initiated.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused persons are involved in selling drugs to youth of Baramulla Town and its surrounding areas.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
