9/20/2021 11:24:06 PM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 20: General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps Lt General D P Pandey on Monday felicitated students of Ist and 2nd batch of "Kashmir Super-30 (medical) who are now successfully undergoing the MBBS course after clearing NEET and the project's CSR partners HPCL & National Integrity &; Educational Development Organization (NIEDO).
A defence ministry spokesman Col Emron Musavi said this evening that the initiative was the vision of the then GOC Chinar Corps, Lt Gen AK Bhatt and was conceptualized and operationalized on June 15, 2018, when GOC Chinar Corps was commanding Kilo Force.
He said till date, 68 students have successfully undergone the program over the last two batches with hundred per cent results. The third batch of 35 students has appeared in NEET examination in Sep 2021.
Super 30 (Medical) is a joint CSR project with HPCL & NIEDO and has won the prestigious FICCI CSR Award 2019-20 amongst over 300 Corporate Companies vying for the best CSR project award. FICCI CSR Award is one of the most reputed award for CSR projects that recognizes the importance of the work being done in this field. The project is located at Haft Chinar, Srinagar.
There are two educational CSR projects which the Army is running in the Valley. Super-50 (Engineering, a joint venture by Army, Petronet and Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL) is being run at Baramulla since 2013. The second project of Army is HPCL Kashmir Super 30, Centre of Excellence & Wellness which was conceptualized by Srinagar based Chinar Corps in December 2017 to secure a better future for disadvantaged Kashmiri youth and is a full-time residential program to coach and mentor them for a period of twelve months for entrance examinations of various Medical Streams/Colleges spread across in India.
The program is co-partnered with HPCL, corporate partner and National Integrity; Educational Development Organization (NIEDO), training partner. The project is located at Haft Chinar, Srinagar.
Inadequacy of quality education, mentoring faculty and infrastructure are major disadvantage for students hailing from nonurban, semirural and rural areas who aspire for higher education qualifications at the national level. Thus, these students remain severely handicapped while appearing for competitive examinations for entrance into Engineering, Medical, Defence, Law, Banking,
Fashion and miscellaneous other streams after class 12th. Indian Army decided to initiate a fully annual residential educational, coaching and mentoring project along with a wellness module (soft skills, personality development and personal grooming) running concurrently for children coming from disadvantaged background, ideally from rural, semi-rural and semi urban areas of UT of Kashmir Valley, Jammu & Ladakh for entry into colleges, universities, institutes and profession across India in Medical fields after clearing NEET examination.
GOC Chinar Corps speaking on the occasion complimented the efforts and dedication of the students and support of their parents. He announced that the fourth batch will commence on September 25 2021. In line with Chinar Corps' efforts to empower women, 20 girl students are being considered for the fourth batch. The selected girls will join the fourth batch after a month, i.e. from end October 2020. The fourth batch will host 50 students - 30 boys & 20 girls. Necessary infrastructure development will also be undertaken to support the project.
The GOC appreciated the support extended by HPCL & NIEDO in supporting and guiding the students in their endeavor.
