SKUAST-J organizes special sensitization programme under NAHEP

JAMMU, Sept 21: A special sensitization programme was conducted under the National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for the students at SKUAST-Jammu. The objective was to enlighten the students with respect to the opportunities that the Institutional Development Plan under this project will open up for them. The project was recently launched by the Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar in the presence of Kailash Choudhary and Shobha Karandlaje, Union Ministers of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ welfare. The project was developed under the guidance of Dr JP Sharma, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu. During the event, Dr Nazir A Ganai, Director, Planning and Monitoring SKUAST-Kashmir delivered a keynote address. He emphasized on how this project has the ability to transform the agricultural education system. He interacted with the students in his marathon talk. Students shared their enthusiasm about the project, and discussed their needs for skill development as well as inculcation of entrepreneurial qualities among them. Earlier, Dr SEH Rizvi, Director Education, SKUAST-Jammu and Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences welcomed the guests while Dr BC Sharma, Head Division of Agronomy and Coordinator IDP-SKUAST JAMMU presented the vote of thanks. Dr Vikas Sharma, Head, Division of Soil Science apprised the house about the Institutional Development Plan of SKUAST-Jammu.
