Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 21: State General Secretary of the minor Forest Produce Extraction and Industries Association (FPE&IA) Vikrant Kapoor while fully supporting the call for Jammu bandh tomorrow said that they will strongly oppose the discriminatory policies of the govt with Jammu region. He appealed to all the people of Jammu to strongly oppose anti-Jammu policies of the government.
Vikrant Kapoor said this during a press conference here today. He said that since the formation of the UT, the government is taking one after the other anti-Jammu decisions, which has broken the backbone of the common man. He said that since the formation of UT, injustice is being done continuously with Jammu. Even when Article 370 was there in Jammu and Kashmir, there was discrimination against Jammu. Today this article has been removed but the same treatment is being meted out to the people of Jammu. He warned that if the government does not stop discrimination with Jammu immediately, there will be a massive agitation.
He also expressed deep concern over the problems faced by the contractors and industries associated with extraction of minor forest produce in Jammu and Kashmir UT. Vikrant Kapoor has urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to formulate a concrete policy in this regard by taking all stakeholders into confidence. He also requested to fix suitable quota for contractors and Industries Associated with extraction of minor forest produce who have been suffering from so many problems for the last several years while due to the implementation of the Forest Right Act 2006 they will suffer directly.
Raja Bashir Ahamad, Javad Ahamad, Shiv Kumar Kapoor, Sanjay Gupta, Arshd Raja, Amit Verma, Rajesh Gupta, Nittu and Bakhtwar Singh were also present during the press conference.
