| Citizens' Forum hails decision to complete Tawi River Front project | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 22: Citizens' Forum welcomed the decision of the J&K UT Government for the completion of Tawi River front by December 2022. The project is a victim of corrupt and incompetent technical officers and concerned leaders of the time, the Forum maintained, adding that so far an amount of Rs 60 crore was laundered and blown into the air.
Forum President RK Chadha and other members including Senior Vice President Daman Bhasin, Trilok Singh Bajwa former MP and Ved Mahajan former MLC demanded that in order to properly look after the Jammu Tourism Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta and Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Raghav Langar should be given the responsibility.
They said that we always wanted a separate Jammu Tourism Commissioner and Tourism Bugdet, but the proposal never suited to the previous governments with obvious reason of using the maximum Tourism funds for Kashmir region only. They requested the Chief Secretary to engage an urban designer from outside the state for creating a beautiful site along River Tawi.
They said that our technical members have prepared a beautiful plan and proposal for 7 km long Tawi River Front with provision of top class hotels on the river Bank for visitors transit stay in Jammu and then proceed further to their various destinations. This will create an excellent business for Jammu people, they added. |
