Capacity building programme for Teachers, Anganwari workers on water harvesting held at Ramban
DC advises stakeholders to focus on rain water harvesting

RAMBAN, Sept 22: District Administration, Ramban today organized a one day capacity building programme for Teachers and Anganwari workers in Water Harvesting under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Deputy Commissioner Mussarat Islam presided over the programme. Chief Planning Officer, Dr. Kasturi Lal; Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti, Sunil Sharma; Technical Officer, A.K. Bhardwaj and Deputy Chief Education Officer, Headmasters and other officers were also present on the occasion.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner sought cooperation of all principal stockholders to implement the scientific techniques for water conservation and rain water harvesting, renovation of traditional water bodies, establishment of reuse and recharge structures, watershed development besides intensifying afforestiation.
The DC asked the participants to play a pivotal role in rain water harvesting and sensitize the people in their contact.
While highlighting the salient features of Jal Jeeven Mission, the DC said that the Government has decided to provide tap drinking water supply to every household of the country by August 15, 2022.
All executing agencies and other departments were directed to install rain water harvesting systems in their buildings to supplement water supply.
Earlier, the Technical Officer gave a PowerPoint presentation to educate participants about different techniques of Rain Water Harvesting and its proper use.
Short films pertaining to rainwater harvesting, storage of rain water on surface for future use and recharge of ground water techniques were also screened.
