SRINAGAR, Sept 22: A policeman was killed by security forces after he tried to enter into a temple last night in Kupwara, official sources said on Wednesday. They said that a policeman, identified as Ajay Dhar, tried to enter into a temple where he was putting up presently, during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday in Handwara area of Kupwara. "The sentry, posted at the temple, assumed it was an attack by anti-national elements and opened fire," they said. They said Dhar was critically injured in the firing. "The wounded was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed," they added.
They said Dhar was posted at Police Station Handwara. "Police has registered a case and initiated further investigation into the incident," they added. |
