9/23/2021 11:20:00 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 23: In a programme organized by Councillor Ward No 9 Suneet Raina, former Minister and ex-MLA Sat Sharma (CA) distributed ration amongst a large number of needy families under PMGKAY (Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana). Sharma was also accompanied by District President BJP Munish Khajuria, Mandal Presidents Raveesh Mengi and Keshav Chopra, Councillors Jeet Angral and Hardeep Singh Mankotia and several others including local residents and political activists of the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said that with the efforts of PM Modi the world has acknowledged the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and free ration has been made available to more than 80 crore people during the pandemic with the expenditure of more thanRs 2 lakh crore. He also stated that after independence, almost every Government talked about providing cheap food to the poor but the scope and budget of cheap ration schemes increased year after year, but the effect it should have had remained limited. The country's food stocks kept increasing, but starvation and malnutrition did not decrease in that proportion which also resulted in lack of an effective delivery system, he added. Munish Khajuria said that to ameliorate the hardships faced by the poor and the needy due to economic disruptions caused by the pandemic, the Central Government through PMGKAY is helping the poor to overcome the problems. He also said that ward wise teams have been constituted to look into the work pertaining to the scheme.
Suneet Raina complimented Former MLA for going Ward wise and helping the poor and needy to take benefits of various Central sponsored schemes. He also said that every deserving person is being covered under the scheme and it will be seen that it is implemented properly in the ward.
Rajan Gupta, Asha Gupta, Kamini Gupta, Jyoti Bhat, Neeru Gupta, Avinash Kour and others were also present.
