PULWAMA, Sept 27: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan today had an extensive tour of Wahab Sahab, Shar Shali, Ladhu area and the tribal belt at Pampore to inspect various ongoing Rural Development and Power development works in the area. The Advisor was accompanied by District Development Commissioner, Pulwama, Baseer ul Haq Chowdhary, SSP Awantipora, Director Floriculture, ADC Awantipora, ACD Pulwama and other officers.
The Advisor inspected 6.3 MVA receiving station being constructed at Sharshali. He directed the concerned officers to work on mission mode and complete the project within the stipulated time frame in all respects.
He gave on spot directions and fixed the timeline for each activity to be completed before the onset of winter. Calling the project a public welfare initiative, the Advisor said it will cater to more than 1200 households of the area and directed the concerned officers to take periodic review of the progress of work.
Advisor also inspected several ongoing works at Wahab Sahab and other adjoining areas being executed by RDD under MGNREGA and 14th FC. He directed the officers to provide timely wages under the scheme and also insisted to have focus on employment generating works.
While reviewing power scenario, Advisor directed the concerned officers to ensure adequate power supply across the district. He directed the officers to put in place all requisite arrangements keeping in view the approaching winter season. He further directed the officers to brace up for the upcoming winter in tune with the directions already passed in series of meetings held in this regard. He stressed to ensure people get the best possible electricity in the coming winters and asked the officers to augment power infrastructure accordingly as per the plans devised in the shortest possible time. He said there should be no frequent power cuts or scarcity of transformers in any area. He further asked the PDD officers to replace rotten poles, conductors and wires immediately as directed in the meetings already taken.
Regarding development of sports infrastructure in the area, Advisor reiterated that sports fields and other related facilities are being developed in every panchayat. He asked the officers to identify land for development of playfields in potential areas of the district. The Deputy Commissioner was directed on the spot to identify the land so that the potential of the youth is directed and channelized towards positive and productive things especially sports.
The Advisor while reviewing Covid mitigation efforts said that the Covid is not over yet and people must not lower the guard in order to avert the 3rd Wave. Adherence to Covid Appropriate Behaviour for effective containment of this pandemic is a scientifically established practice being stressed on daily basis by all renowned experts, the Advisor maintained.
Advisor Baseer Khan called upon the people to participate in the vaccination drives with full vigour so that hundred percent population is immunized and a safe bubble is created to avert any looming threat.
Hailing tourism potential of the area, the Advisor directed the officers of tourism to take steps for beautification of the area and other important places.
He asked the officers to prepare plans to refurbish the already existing infrastructure and propose new improvements that need to be undertaken for enhancing tourist potential in the area.
Stressing to showcase the achievements of the government, the Advisor said that the district has witnessed massive progress on development, public welfare, Centrally Sponsored and other schemes. The Advisor asked officers of all the departments to ensure prompt and immediate redressal of public grievances. He enjoined upon the executing agencies to utilize the remaining working season to the optimum.
Earlier the Advisor held public interaction with DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, other PRI members, ULB members, Tribal area representatives and other public representatives besides Auqaf and Civil Society members of the sun placed their demands and grievances before the Advisor. DDC, BDC, PRI, ULB members apprised the Advisor about several development issues and demands of their respective areas.
Among others, the demands included, Wahab Sahab to Pastuna Road 8kms, Water scarcity issues, Skill development, Community Hall, Panchayat Ghar, Widening of road from Shar to Wahab Sahab, ATM, Reduction of electric charges, playfield in villages and macadamisation of interior roads. Advisor passed on spot directions for redressal of certain demands and assured the other demands and issues will be taken up at appropriate platforms for appropriate action.
