10/6/2021 9:44:40 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Oct 6: United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Jammu and Kashmir today gave two-week ultimatum to Jammu and Kashmir UT government to amend the new land laws which is debarring Mahajan, Khatri and Sikh communities to purchase agricultural land in Jammu and Kashmir failing which the alliance members would be forced to adopt the path of agitation.
In a statement issued here, convener UDA, Rajiv Mahajan said that In India, any people in anywhere in the country can purchase and sell land but it is extremely depressing that Mahajans and Khatris of Union Territory of J&K cannot purchase even one Marla of agricultural land whereas there is no such restriction on people belonging to other communities.
Mahajan said all the citizens of the country are treated equally before law irrespective of caste, colour or creed but the government adopts dual policy and gross injustice to and Khatri communities in J&K. He said that Mahajan and Khatri community of J&K always played a key role in various fields in the development of Jammu and Kashmir but it is a matter of strong discrimination that these communities have been kept away from the selling and purchasing agriculture land.
