JKGPA holds conference of Ramban Unit
10/7/2021 12:01:04 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Oct 6: One day conference of Jammu Kashmir Govt. Pharmacist Association was held at District Ramban under the chairmanship of Sushil Sudan State President JKGPA. While addressing the conference Sushil Sudan strongly urged the Govt. to consider the long pending demands of Pharmacists.
Diploma in Pharmacy/Bachelors in Pharmacy course & higher qualification in the field are regulated across the country by the Apex body, i.e. Pharmacy council of India. The said forum frames regulations from time to time to govern the practice and profession of Pharmacy across the country.
Despite introduction of J&K Re-organization, Act, 2019, the Government of U.T of J&K is still allowing J&K Para Medical Council to deal with matters concerning with Pharmacists interests. The courses in Pharmacy are being currently regulated in terms of J&K Para Medical Council Act, 2014. Necessary amendment in the said Act is urgently required to omit these courses from its ambit. Needless to mention that after introduction of J&K Re-organization Act, 2014 among several Laws, the J&K Pharmacy Act, Samvat, 2011 got repealed and replaced by Pharmacy Act, 1948. In light of this transition there’s absolutely no reason what so ever to have adopt a dual regulatory control to deal with matters concerning Pharmacists profession. Creation of more posts of Senior Pharmacists at Sub Distt Hospitals and Distt Hospitals. Up gradation of Block Pharmacy Officer and Distt Pharmacy Officer. Handling of Drugs by non qualified persons in the state of J&K region in all Govt. Medical Colleges, Department of Health Services, Jammu/Kashmir and Department of Family welfare, J&K Department of Aid Control and ISM Department. Computerization of Stores in Health Institutions in Jammu/Kashmir and capsule training course to all pharmacist who are handling the stores. JKGPAssociation condemned the killing of ML Bindroo Pharmacist in Srinagar .
