NYKS J&K, Ladakh organizes 'Clean India' programme

JAMMU, Oct 7: Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh under the leadership of Surinder Saini, State Director, organized 'Clean India' programme as a part of celebrations under Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav.
In Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the programme has been started in all the 22 Districts by involving 7573 Youth Clubs under the guidance of concerned Deputy Commissioners, in which Municipalities, Educational Institutes, Religious Bodies, Professional Groups, Civil Societies & Community Based organizations, Sports Federations, NYKS Volunteers, NSS Volunteers, Department of Youth Services & Sports, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Institutes etc have been involved.
Surinder Saini, State Director informed that Chief Secretary Jammu & Kashmir AK Mehta has directed all the agencies involved in the Clean India programme to successfully implement the campaign in the J&K UT. Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Youth Services & Sports, Jammu & Kashmir and Ravinder Kumar, Secretary Youth Services & Sports Ladakh has given directions to all the Deputy Commissioners for launching and assisting in the organization of Clean India campaign. Saini said that a target of 151,460 Kgs of Single Use Plastic waste has been set up for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh by the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt of India and up to 6th October, 30255 Kgs have been collected.
Saini further informed that Cleanliness maintenance through Voluntary Work Camps - desilting and cleaning of water bodies, maintenance and beautification drives for historical monuments and Heritage sites, community centre, Youth Club / Mahila Mandal Buildings, School Buildings, Panchayat Buildings, Hospitals, Tourist Places, Railway Stations, Religious Places, Bus stands, Play Fields etc have also been included in the month long campaign.
