NYK Udhampur organizes Clean India programme in BDO Office Majalta

JAMMU, Oct 7: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Udhampur, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (Govt of India) organized Clean India programme in BDO Office Majalta in which National Youth Volunteers Sapana Devi, Preeti Gupta, Ansuya Sharma and Karan Singh collectively launched plastic collection drive across the premises and surroundings of the aforementioned venue. The cleanliness drive aimed at eradicating single use plastic in which people were made aware of the ill effects of plastic usage. On the occasion, Panchayat Inspector, Som Singh also gave an open message appealing the people to maintain cleanliness and decrease dependence on plastic. He also urged the locals not to throw garbage in Mansar lake.
Programme Incharge, Gourav Sharma also participated in the plastic collection drive along with the NYVs in which 8 Kg plastic was collected. He also extended cooperation to the NYVs and lauded the initiatives being undertaken by NYKS from time to time. A similar cleanliness cum plastic collection drive was also organized in local market of Village Dhemma in collaboration with Beopar Mandal and native shopkeepers resulting in the collection and eradication of 20 Kg plastic across the market. It is pertinent to mention here that such programmes are being conducted in all blocks of the district and more than 10000 Kg of plastic is aimed to be eradicated at district level by NYK, Udhampur.
