RBI organizes empowered committee meeting on RRBs

JAMMU, Oct 7: The 55th meeting of Empowered Committee (EC) on Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) for the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh was organized by Reserve Bank of India today. Sandeep Mittal, General Manager, RBI presided over the meeting.
Surender Singh, GM/OIC, NABARD, Priyadarshan, DGM, SBI, Manju Gupta, Vice-President, J&K Bank, Sudhir Gupta, Chairman, J&K Grameen Bank and Arshad-ul-Islam, Chairman, Ellaquai Dehati Bank and other officials from RBI, NABARD and banks participated in the meeting. The meeting discussed and reviewed the performance of the RRBs in the areas like advances to priority sector, performance under Annual Credit Plan 2020-21, credit flow to agriculture sector, measures relating to financial literacy and awareness programmes, strengthening security measures in the bank branches, compliance to KYC/AML guidelines, etc. Financial parameters of both the RRBs were also discussed and deliberated upon.
The deficient performance wherever observed was discussed and remedial steps were suggested so as to ensure that the target set for the year under ACP and other prescribed performance parameters were fulfilled timely during the year. Various new guidelines and instructions brought out by the Reserve Bank and NABARD were also discussed during the course of the meeting.
