Ceased vehicles ply on Jammu roads
10/8/2021 1:11:51 AM

Poonch, Oct 6: The vehicles ceased by police for one or other reason are plying on Jammu roads with changed number plates, sources have alleged.
“Some vehicles which were ceased in some police stations of Jammu during the past two years are seen plying in Jammu city and other areas. This has put a question mark on the policing system as people are asking how come vehicles ceased by the police can ply on the roads?” sources said, adding, ““The ceased vehicles can be used for any activity and pose a threat to security.”
They said, “Some vehicles are being used by policemen with different number plates.”
“The Station House Officers (SHOs) are custodians of the ceased vehicles and if these vehicles are found moving on the roads, the SHOs have to answer,” said an official.
Former DySP said, "The vehicles being used were ceased two years ago.”
Meanwhile, a SHO said that these vehicles are being sent to proper parking places. “However, the condition of these vehicles reveals that these are moving on daily basis,” said a source.

When contacted ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh assured a prompt action will be taken in this context.
