Training Programme on drug abuse held at Ramgarh

SAMBA, Oct 8: A training programme on drug abuse was conducted at Community Health Centre Ramgarh, Samba for doctors and paramedical staff by JKSPYM SLCA, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, GOI.
Dr Virender Kumar, Union Minister, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment inaugurated the training programme and mentioned that Jammu & Kashmir is a border UT and is vulnerable to problems like drug abuse. This training programme was a part of inaugural function of Counselling and Resource Center and was established today in Community Health Centre (CHC), Ramgarh, District Samba.
This initiative was taken by DC Samba, Anuradha Gupta under the guidance of Principal Secretary, Dept of Social Welfare, Sheetal Nanda. Project Director, SLCA Pallavi delivered the welcome address and introduced herself and her project SLCA (State Level Coordinating Agency), of MOSJE, GOI. She also mentioned the importance of this training program for providing counselling and referral of the drug victims to de-addiction centers.
More than 30 participants participated in this training programme. The training was given by resource persons Shikha and Komal with the help of PowerPoint Presentation. Resource persons educated the participants about drugs, its types, short- and long-term effects, prevention and its treatment.
Programme concluded with the vote of thanks by BMO Ramgarh, District Samba Dr Lakhwinder Singh. At the end of the programme pamphlets were distributed among participants and certain questions were raised by participants and satisfactory answers were given to them by resource persons.
