GDC Ukhral celebrates wildlife week

RAMBAN, Oct 8: Government Degree College (GDC) Ukhral in collaboration with Indian Science Congress, Jammu Chapter celebrated the Wildlife Week with the aim to protect and preserve the country’s fauna. The theme of this year Wildlife Week is “Forest and Livelihood: Sustaining People and Planet” During this week, Essay Writing Competition, Slogan writing, poster making, quiz completion and symposium were organized in the college in order to make students understand the importance of wildlife conservation. Large number of students participated in all the activities. The resource of the symposium was Dr Akhtar Rasool, Lecturer, Environmental Science. He stressed on wildlife conservation and management principles, today wildlife conservation has evolved into science, but its goal remains essentially the same, to ensure the wise use and management of renewable resources. Earlier Principal of the College Prof (Dr) Ranvijay Singh in his address highlighted the crucial role of wildlife in maintenance the ecological balance of nature. Any harm to it can pose great threat to entire ecosystem. He exhorted upon the students to aware and sensitize the common masses to preserve and protect the flora and fauna.
