ROB J&K organizes ‘Cleanliness Drive’ as part of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign

KATRA, Oct 9: In the ongoing Navratri here, Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Jammu organized ‘Shramdaan’ at Government Higher Secondary School, Katra. The Shramdaan is a part of the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign, an initiative of the Swachh Bharat Mission which aims to generate greater public participation reinforcing the concept of sanitation as everyone’s business. The cleanliness drive was flagged off by Neha Jalali, Joint Director, ROB, J&K, Ladakh who emphasized that the aim of this drive under ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ is to encourage people to understand the importance of clean environment as envisioned by PM Narendra Modi so as to make it a ‘Jan Andolan’ at every level be that a Gram Panchayat, a village or a community. Khursheed Yousuf, Field Publicity Officer, Udhampur who is supervising this event said that it’s only through proper sanitation that the standard of life of the people can be raised that will lead to economic upliftment and better health. Besides the officials of Municipal Committee Katra, the National Service Scheme volunteers of Government Degree College, Katra & volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra also participated.
