GLDM Degree College Hiranagar observes World Mental Health Day

KATHUA, Oct 9: In order to aware college students about various mental issues and concept of Mental Hygiene, Psychological Counselling Cell, Career Counselling Cell and Placement Cell of Manodarpan scheme initiative by MOI today organized a webinar on the topic “Mental Health Amidst Pandemic” in collaboration with IQAC. This programme was organized in order to celebrate ‘World Mental Health Day’. The whole program was conducted under the guidance and supervision of KS Koushal, Principal GLDM Degree College Hiranagar. The Resource Person Dr Syed Shehna, Asstt Prof in Psychology and Psychological Counsellor of Manodarpan, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, highlighted various factors which have contributed to the deteriorating mental health of people in general due to the pandemic. Dr Shehna pointed out some physiological functioning. She emphasized that psychological ailments are actually the manifestations of many factors which includes social disturbances, poor physical health, work pressure, excessive stress level that can surface in the form of depression, anxiety, insomnia etc. Dr Davinder Kour also emphasized the role of education in maintaining mental health. The programme was organized by Dr Davinder Kour ,Convenor Psychological Counselling Cell, Prof Parveen Sharma Convenor Career Counselling Cell, Prof Sujat Khan Convenor Placement Cell and Coordinator IQAC. Speaking on the occasion Principal Hiranagar appreciated the efforts of whole Manodarpan.
