GDC Purmandal organizes webinar on impact of Covid-19 on Sports

JAMMU, Oct 9: A webinar on the topic “Impact of Covid-19 on Sports, Physical activity and Well Being of Students: A Physiotherapist view” was conducted by Government Degree College (GDC) Purmandal today.
Prof Shahima Akhter (HOD of Environmental Sciences) gave welcome address while Principal of the college formally introduced the resource person of the webinar, Dr Gaurav Vaid, consultant Physiotherapist, (Founder & CEO SWASTHYA SHASTRA). The resource person discussed at length about the Physical fitness of the body especially during the present Covid times. He stressed upon the fact that the physical activity is need of the hour to remove fatigueness from today’s ultra model lifestyle. He further added that covid times has reduced the physical activities of Human beings but one should try to make this time a boon and we should indulge themselves in more and more physical activities. He also stressed upon the traditional way of food habits and suggested to adopt traditional way of leading life and also students should minimize the use of technology and they should make daily routine of doing exercises, performing Yoga. He also elaborated upon the various body postures that one should keep in mind while doing our daily chores. He recommended the students that one should not study on the bed, according to him “a bed is always for sleep while studying, a table, chair should be used”. A healthy interactive session took place wherein students and staff asked in detail about different problems related with body postures and overall well being. Programme ended with the formal vote of thanks by Prof Nirlape Kour (HOD, Pol Science).
