NIA Court frames charges against Asiya Andrabi, 8 others

Anantnag, Oct 9: A National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court on Saturday farmed charges against the separatist leader Asiya Andrabi and her eight (8) other associates for hatching a criminal conspiracy against the country and disturbing law and order.
The NIA Court of South Kashmir (Anantnag) also framed Aasiya Andrabi, who is the founder of banned outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DEM) and her associates including Nahida Nasreen and Sofi Fahmeeda for instigating students to resort to stone-pelting and sloganeering in favor of slain terrorist Zakir Musa.
The charges were framed in the court of Javaid Aalam, Special Judge designated under NIA Act through video conferencing. The charges were framed after a gap of almost 3 years in case of FIR No. 60/2018 of Police Station Anantnag under section 147, 148, 149, 341, 336, 307, 427, 120-B RPC 3/4 PPPD Act 18,20,38,39 ULAP Act.
Asia Andrabi and her 2 associates Nahida Nasreen and Sofi Fahmeeda were arrested in 2018 are presently lodged in Tihar Jail. “The charges have been framed through video conferencing,” an official statement said.
Earlier the case was presented in the court on 6/12/2018 and after a gap of almost 3 years a charge sheet against all the 9 accused including Dukhtarn-e-Millat Chief Asia Andrabi have been framed.
Asiya Andrabi and other accused have been charged of hatching a criminal conspiracy against the country and disturbing law and order. They have been also charged with instigating unruly mobs armed with stones and stone pelting on moving private and police vehicles and security forces.
She and others have been also framed for instigating Students who resorted to violence and raised slogans in favor of Militant Commander Zakir Mussa.
DEM has been declared as a "banned terrorist organization" by the Government of India under the First Schedule to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. The group is also part of the separatist organisation 'All Parties Hurriyat Conference' in the Kashmir valley.
DEM was allegedly involved in anti-India activities by inciting the general populace of Kashmir for an armed rebellion against the Government of India with aid and assistance from various terrorist organisations based in Pakistan
