Revenue authorities fail to take action against ‘land grabber’
10/10/2021 11:16:19 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

POUNI, Oct 10: Alleged failure of the Revenue authorities to take action against ‘land grabber’, who has constructed a huge building on ‘government land’ near Tehsil office Pouni in district Reasi, is raising many eyebrows.
Locals alleged that the building has come up without permission.
Locals said that they had discussed the matter with the then Deputy commissioner Reasi Indu Kawal Chib, the then Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma and the then Financial Commissioner Revenue Dr Pawan Kotwal, who took cognizance of the matter and issued an order to the construction work and get the State land vacated.
They said after the transfer of all the aforesaid officials, the alleged land grabber has again started construction work “which clearly shows that there is a nexus between revenue authorities and the land grabber.” They claimed revenue authorities have not initiated action against land grabber.
Locals further stated that they met with Tehsildar Pouni Lekh Raj, who said that the construction work was started before his appointment and has issued instructions of Naib Tehsildar to take action on the issue.
They said they also spoke to ACR Reasi Sanjay Badyal and sought action against the land grabber but nothing has been done till date.
Locals urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to constitute a committee to investigate grabbing of the state land and initiate strong action against all the culprits.
When Early Times contacted Tehsildar Pouni LekhRaj he said that he has directed his Naib to stop the work and a letter has also been sent to Station House Officer (SHO) Pouni in this regard.
