Sikh organizations demand appointment of Sikh as Advisor to LG

JAMMU, Oct 10: An emergency meeting of Various Sikh Organizations J&K held under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh, Chief Organizer Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and ex-member District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee Jammu.
In the meeting various issues confronting the Sikh community were discussed. The participants expressed their anguish that the Sikh community in Jammu Kashmir UT is being ignored as well as discriminated since long.
The Jammu Kashmir Sikh Organizations made an appeal to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to appoint an educated Sikh as Advisor to LG of JKUT. A Sikh must be in administrative ambit to represent the Sikh community, they added.
They also demanded that a Sikh must be in the Service Selection Board and Public Service Commission as Member and the Sikh Organizations had appealed time and again in this regard. The Jammu Kashmir Sikh Organizations also appealed to fix quota for Sikh Minority community for recruiting Sikh educated unemployed youths like other reserved categories. The Sikh Organizations feel that due to lack of proper and adequate information the Punjabi language has not been included in official languages like Dogri and Urdu in Jammu Kashmir. Had there be a Sikh representative in the administration the Punjabi language may not have been ignored. The Jammu Kashmir Organizations also demanded that High Court judge be appointed from Sikh community, adding that in 74 years after independence no Sikh has been appointed as High Court judge in Jammu Kashmir. The members also sought release of entire cash relief to all PoK refugees.
