Rana along with his close friend and another National Conference leader and former minister Surjit Singh Slathia, may join the BJP in the national capital on Monday. Rana has quit the National Conference and from Provincial Presidentship post of the party, sources said.
The former MLA has also removed his designation of Provincial President of NC from his Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on its official Twitter handle wrote, “Dr Farooq Abdullah has received and accepted the resignations of Mr Salathia & Mr Rana. No further action or comment is deemed necessary.” Dr Farooq Abdullah is president of the National Conference.
In October 4, Rana had said that he was still in the National Conference but can sacrifice for the cause of Jammu.
“I am still a provincial president of the party (National Conference) and has not submitted resignation yet, but can make any sacrifice in the interests of Jammu region and its people,” Rana had said.

“I will not compromise on issues and aspirations on Jammu,” he added.
Rana is three time former MLA from Nagrota constituency of Jammu.
He however, appealed all political parties of Jammu region, including the BJP, to unite and adopt the Jammu declaration to safeguard the interests of the region like the people in Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh stood up above their political and religious affiliations and took a stand on issues concerning their regions.
