Jammu University organizes webinar on World Mental Health Day

JAMMU, Oct 10: NSS Campus Units, University of Jammu organized webinar on World Mental Health Day. Dr. Savita Nayyar, NSS Program Officer Campus units, University of Jammu coordinated the webinar under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor and Chairman NSS, University of Jammu, Prof. Manoj K Dhar, and under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Neeru Sharma, Convener, NSS Campus Units University of Jammu and Dr. Anju Thapa, NSS Programme Coordinator University of Jammu.
Around 172 candidates registered including academicians, scholars, students and NSS volunteers from both technical and non-technical fields from various departments and colleges of the state and outside for the webinar. Dr. Chand Trehan, renowned psychological counselor pioneer in the state for counseling since last 29 years enthralled the audience with her views and real life day-to-day examples.
She emphasized on real life in-person interaction which should be encouraged replacing an artificial sense of intimacy through the social networking platforms. She shared very interesting power-point presentation focusing on national international surveys, some of the tips to stay mentally healthy like Develop and keep strong relationships with people who will support you, make time every day to enjoy something you really like to do, aim for seven hours of sleep at least, focus on living “in the moment”, volunteer for a cause or an issue you care about, help out a co-worker, neighbour, or friend, find ways to contribute, it can help you feel good about yourself and who you are in the world, cultivate an attitude of gratitude.
