GDC Ukhral celebrates International Day of Girl Child

RAMBAN, Oct 11: Government Degree College (GDC) Ukhral today celebrated 'International Girl Child Day' with zeal and enthusiasm by organizing a symposium on the theme "Digital Generation: Our Generation". The day is celebrated every year on 11th of October to create awareness among the people about the rights and capabilities of a girl child.
A large number of students participated in this program and presented their valuable views on the topic. The Program was presided over by worthy Principal of the College Prof (Dr) Ranvijay Singh. In his inaugural address he said that every girl child is the source of strength of any society and nation and they must be given equal opportunities in all walks of life. Prof Iftikar Hussain Lone, HoD English was the resource person from the host college. He said that women compose 50% of the world population and they are the largest generation in history and a vast source of ideas and solutions for all walks of life. Yet often, girls are not given the space and opportunities to achieve their full potential. At the onset Dr Shafiq Ahmed Katoch, HoD Urdu welcomed the guests and audience on the occasion. The program was conducted and coordinated by Prof Zakir Hussain, HoD Political Science.
