GDC Vijaypur organizes workshop on World Mental Health Day

VIJAYPUR, Oct 11: In order to address workplace stress, anxiety and to aware and help students in schools and colleges as also caregivers and families of people living with mental health issues, the Psychological Counselling, Career Counselling and Placement Cell, GDC Vijaypur under the Manodarpan initiative of MHRD, Govt of India, organized a 2-day long interactive workshop on the theme 'Mental Health in an Unequal World' to celebrate the World Mental Health Day, 2021. The whole programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Dr Sangeeta Sudan, Principal GDC Vijaypur.
On the first day of the Workshop, a massive digital awareness campaign was launched on social media and a lecture was delivered by Prof Poonam Kundan, Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, GDC Vijaypur. She focused on this years' theme and explained various factors which are responsible for increasing mental health.
On the 2nd day of the Workshop, the resource person was Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head of the Department of Punjabi, GDC Vijaypur. He shared his views and related physical fitness with mental fitness by illustrating various examples. In the students' session, a competition regarding Oral and Poster presentations were held in which many students from various institutions participated with great enthusiasm. The award of the Best Oral Presentation was secured by Simran Kour (Sem-I) of GDC Vijaypur and the Best Poster Presentation Award was bagged by Ms Jyoti Devi (Sem-III) of GDC Vijaypur. The competition was adjudicated by Dr Sunil Kumar Mangoch and Prof Poonam Kundan. Dr Shittal Sharma, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Convenor, Psychological Counselling, Career Counselling and Placement Cell, GDC Vijaypur, coordinated the whole event.
