In the wee hours, based on specific input about the presence of terrorists in village Gund Jahangir area of Bandipora, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, 13RR and 47Bn CRPF in the said area.
During the search operation, as the presence of terrorists got ascertained they were given the opportunity to surrender, however, they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which retaliated leading to an encounter.
In the ensuing encounter, one terrorist identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT (TRF) was killed and his body was retrieved from the site of encounter. It is pertinent to mention that the killed terrorist was the main accused in the killing of a civilian Mohd Shafi alias Sonu at Shahgund. He joined terror folds after the Police unearthed the module involved in planning and executing the said killing and the other involved terror associates have already been arrested.
Meanwhile on Sunday police in Bandipora claimed to have busted a LeT (TRF) module and arrested four terror associates involved in the conspiracy behind the killing of a civilian namely Mohd Shafi Lone alias Sonu a resident of Naidkhai.

However, one of the terrorist associates involved in the killing, identified as Imtiyaz Ah Dar @Kotru is absconding and has reportedly joined the terrorist ranks.
During the course of investigation, it surfaced that the killing was carried out at the behest and instruction of LeT (TRF) handler Lala Umar, a resident of Pakistan. To carry out the nefarious design, a conspiracy was hatched by a LeT (TRF) module of Shahgund, Hajin area.
