Principal of the college, Prof Seema Mir formally welcomed the guest in Dogri. The resource person spoke at length on the topic “Khand Mithe Lok Dogre”.
In his address, the guest speaker gave immense reverence to Purmandal that this place is of great relevance in Dogri culture and Hindu scriptures and is also known as “Chota Kashi”. While elaborating further, he mentioned the significance of river Devika which is one of the rare places where river flows from south to north. That is why it is called as “Utterbehni”. The guest speaker was so enthusiastic about the topic “Khand Mithe Lok Dogre” expressed that the Dogri language is not only a way of communication, but he metaphorically called Dogri a “Mother”. If you love your mother, you will love your native language. During the interactive session with the students the guest speaker motivated and encouraged them to speak Dogri without any hesitation and told them that they should feel privileged and honoured in speaking their native language and also shared with them that those who criticize people speaking in Dogri are themselves having inferiority complex. The event was attended by the faculty and students of the college. The event ended with the vote of thanks by Prof Nirlape Kour, (HOD, Pol Science) in Dogri language.
