GCW Parade organizes spiritual programme

JAMMU, Oct 12: On the seventh day of Navratri, Govt College for Women (GCW) Parade organized a spiritual programme to send across the message of Ramayana among the audience. The message about the supreme ideals of the life and purity of thought and action of Shri Rama was spread through the narration of the Ram Katha and by enacting certain events of his life. Students through their spirited narration and captivating actions kept the audience glued to the chairs and gazed towards the stage with reverence and devotion. The various devotional hymns sung by the girls of the College created a serene ambience in the whole campus and rendered the atmosphere saturated with the nectar of faith and positive vibes. Earlier, Dr SP Sarswat, Principal of the College extended greetings of Navratri to the audience. Dr Mamta Sharma, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit presented a brief overview of the significance of Navratri to the devotees. She also highlighted that how deeply the ideals of Shri Rama are engrained in the cultural ethos of Indian Subcontinent. Dr Shobna Sambyal, Associate Professor of Zoology extended the vote of thanks to all participants including the principal for his whole hearted support.
Meanwhile, an exhibition-cum-sale of items of Art was also organized in the college by the students to enhance the festivity of the occasion. These students displayed a whole host of creations created from waste material (glass bottle, plastic bottles, discarded plates and saucers etc). Paintings were displayed and items worth Rs 6000 were sold to the visitors. Prof Rakesh Sharma, HoD Fine Arts Govt College of Music and Fine Arts Jammu also visited the exhibition.
