Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 12: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta on Tuesday appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for considering the plight of those residents of Gandhi Nagar locality, who have been asked by the J&K Housing Board to vacate parts of their plots which are in their possession for over 60 years.
In a fervent appeal, the former legislator from Gandhi Nagar constituency put forward the plight of residents who have been asked by the J&K Housing Board to vacate parts of their plots which are in their possession for over 60 years in one month's time. He said that the order in this regard is over 60 years old and the status of land in many cases has been changed as people have opened shops in the aforesaid area and in some cases the titles have also been changed.
"There are few cases where plots have been divided between families and implementation of such an order will lead to unnecessary litigation. During earlier days there was ample space but now with increase in the population and plots getting divided into sub families, this order has the potential to disturb harmony of the concerned families", Kavinder said adding that the Lt Governor should take a decision on companionate ground to give exemption to the affected lot of people as much time has been elapsed.
The senior BJP leader appealed to the Lt Governor Sinha to take a sympathetic stance over the issue and issue necessary directions to the concerned department to abstain from taking any adverse action in this case.
