10/13/2021 12:02:11 AM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 12: Security forces on Tuesday brought down five terrorists in Shopian alone as they gunned down two more unidentified militants in South Kashmir hours after the gunfight broke out leaving three militants dead.
The fresh gunfight broke out in Feripora area of Shopian when joint teams were conducting a cordon and search operation in the area. This is the fifth gun battle in Jammu and Kashmir between hiding militants and the forces in the past 30 hours after last week's civilian killings and a brutal attack on the army on Monday that saw the death of a JCO and four jawans.
As the joint team cordoned the area aiming to flush out hiding militants, the patrol party was fired upon which was retaliated, triggering an encounter, a police officer said. "Two terrorists have been killed." The Feripora operation is underway.
Seven militants -- five is Shopian, one each in Anantnag and Bandipora, have been killed since Monday morning. Three militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba, including one who was allegedly involved in the killing of street hawker from Bihar, have been killed.
