							  | | Disconnect tourism from normalcy narrative, stop propaganda: Omar Abdullah | | | | | | Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 12: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah has said that tourists visiting J&K is nothing new and it should be disconnected from the normalcy narrative.
In an interview, Omar said, “Using tourism as a barometer of normalcy is always dangerous. When you start projecting the return of tourists as the end of militancy, a tragedy follows.”
Omar said that during his tenure as the J&K Chief Minister tourists a good number of tourists used to visit the erstwhile state. “We never projected tourists visiting J&K as the end of militancy. We kept it away from the normalcy narrative. Today what we are seeing is propaganda. Tourists visiting J&K should be seen as a barometer for the economy and not as a sign about everything being normal.”
