Asks for timely MGNREGA payment, implementation of delay compensation

KISHTWAR, Oct 13: Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Sham Lal today impressed upon the Rural Development Department functionaries for timely payment of MGNREGA wages and implementation of the provision of paying delay compensation for the delayed payments as per the guidelines of the scheme.
He was reviewing the progress achieved in the implementation of flagship rural sector schemes, here at a meeting of the officers of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department.
Reviewing the schemes and activity-wise progress of the works being executed by the RDD, the ADDC asked the officers to redouble their efforts to ensure effective implementation of schemes meant for the socio-economic development of the rural masses.
The ADDC directed the BDOs to ensure timely payment of wages in favour of the job card holders besides stressed for completion of targeted works on priority basis.
He stressed for the implementation of the provision of paying delay compensation for the delayed payments as per the MGNREGA guidelines.
He further directed all the BDOs to submit the list of the functionaries who have delayed the MGNREGA payments in his office, within two days for further action.
The ADDC asked BDOs to put in place a mechanism for tracking the delayed payments and submit the same to ACD Kishtwar on weekly basis.
During the meeting, the ADDC set deadlines for achieving the target of completion of various works, MGNREGA payment, up-dating of dashboard, Geo Tagging of Assets and clearance of delayed compensation.
The ADDC also directed the BDOs to immediately complete approved works of different departments including Youth Services and Sports, Agriculture and Education taken up under District capex 2021-22 and B2V3.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development Kishore Singh Katoch and all the BDOs of district Kishtwar.
