Samba, Oct 13: Red Ribbon Club Of Govt. Degree College Vijaypur in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society organized HIV awareness campaign
HIV awareness and education is very helpful for learners to not only develop and maintain safer behaviours, but also reduce stigma and discrimination towards people affected by, and living with HIV. In that concern, Red Ribbon Club of Govt. Degree College Vijaypur, in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society organized campaign on HIV awareness.HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) attacks the body’s immune system. If HIV is not treated, it can lead to AIDS(Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome).The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) targets the immune system and weakens people’s defence against many infections and some types of cancer that people with healthy immune systems can fight off. As the virus destroys and impairs the function of immune cells, infected individuals gradually become Immunodeficient.
Students of the college enthusiastically participated in the HIV awareness campaign and shared their views on stopping HIV stigma, promoting HIV testing ,prevention,and treatment delivering the message that HIV testing should be a part of everyone’s regular health routine and encouraged young people to get themselves tested for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases by uploading videos of 30- 60 seconds.
