GDC Udhampur organises HIV awareness program

Jammu, Oct 13: Govt. Degree College Udhampur, organized HIV awareness promotional video contest.
The Red Ribbon Club of GDC, Udhampur in association with J&K AIDS control society, H&ME Department, Jammu organized an intra-College promotional video contest as a part of HIV Awareness campaign under the patronage of worthy Principal Prof.Subhash Chander Sharma. This awareness campaign was a part of implementation plan for New India @ 75.
Students of the College actively participated in the event and prepared videos on HIV awareness. The video contest was adjudged by the members of Red Ribbon club GDC, Udhampur. Manisha Devi Sem. 2nd was adjudged first, 2nd position was secured by Ritik Anand of Sem. 5th and Anwar Ali of Sem.-1st bagged 3rd position. The winners will be rewarded with cash prize of Rs 1000/-, Rs 750/- and Rs. 500/- respectively. In this event, students prepared self- videos of 30-60 second highlighting various issues and concerns regarding HIV causes and prevention. As the HIV is one of the major Global public health issues so there is an urgent need to aware and educate the communities pertaining to the HIV testing and its prevention.
Worthy Principal of the College, Prof.Subhash Chander Sharma appreciated the efforts of all the participants and organizing team. He emphasized the need of organizing more such activities for increasing HIV awareness among the masses. The event was organized by Prof. Jawaid Sarver, Nodal officer Red Ribbon Club and co-ordinated by members of Red Ribbon Club Dr.Kawaljit Kour, Prof. Samosh Kumar, Dr. Swarn Singh. Prof Sonia Raj and Prof. Anoksha.
