Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 13: Days after PDP president Mehbooba Mufti’s letter, a fact-finding team of the Press Council of India (PCI) has reached to interact with media fraternity.
According to reports the Fact-Finding Committee of Press Council of India (PCI) today arrived here on its three-day visit to have interaction with the media fraternity of Kashmir.
The three-member committee includes Prakash Dubey, convener and group editor of Dainik Bhaskar, Gurbir Singh, The New Indian Express, and Dr. Suman Gupta, editor of Jan Morcha.
As reported earlier, alleging harassment of journalists, former chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has written a letter to the Press Council of India (PCI), asking it to send an independent fact-finding team to Jammu and Kashmir. “We have witnessed how fundamental rights such as freedom of speech & expression enshrined in the Indian Constitution have increasingly come under attack, especially in the last two years by a hostile and insecure dispensation,” Mufti wrote to the media watchdog.
The fact-finding panel of the PCI has asked any journalist or editor of any newspaper to brief them about any of their grievances.
