62nd Police Commemoration Day observed

RAMBAN, Oct 21: Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, PD Nitya today led the officers and personnel of J&K Police and J&K IRP in paying the floral tributes to the martyrs on 62nd National Police Commemoration Day here at Shaheed Samarak in the District Police Lines.
Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam; President MC, Sunita Devi; ADDC, Rajinder Sharma; ADC, Harbans Lal; Addl. SP, Rajni Sharma; 2nd in Command 187 BN CRPF, Ram Lal Meena; president Beopar Mandal, Ved Bhushan, members of Bar Association, families of Police Martyrs, officers of combat forces, besides several prominent citizens also paid their tributes to Martyrs.
Every year, October 21 is observed as National Police Commemoration Day in memory of the police personnel, who were martyred by the Chinese in 1959. Their photographs were garlanded and a traditional police salute with ‘Shok Shashtra’ was performed by the police personnel.
Earlier, SSP read out the names of all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the past one year. He gave away gifts to as many as 49 next of kin of JKP martyrs of Ramban district. Later, a ward of Police Martyr inaugurated the Help Desk established by the Ramban Police to facilitate the police families especially families of martyrs. Highlighting the importance of Help Desk, the SSP informed that any police family belonging to Ramban district can call on dedicated land line number: 01998-266400 or mobile no: 9103221325 to take help from the department in resolving their different government office related issues.
