JKSAC appeals LG resolve issue of DPs final settlement
10/21/2021 11:33:23 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 21: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) a legendry organisation of DPs of 1947 from POK made a humble appeal to Manoj K. Sinha Lt. Governor to take up the DPs final settlement issues as assured in 19th Dec. 2020 meeting with Amit Shah, Home Minister of India on his ensuing visit on 22nd Oct. 2021. JKSAC also requested both the MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma and Dr. Jatinder Singh as well as Ravinder Raina and other BJP leaders to impress upon Amit Shah to accept and implement the JPC Report No. 183 which has recommended Rs 30 lakhs ex-gratia to each DP family besides reservation for their wards and other components till the GOI takes the final call to resolve the POK issue which is under illegal occupation of Pakistan.
While addressing a meeting at R.S.Pura, Gurdev Singh, President JKSAC alongwith Dwarka Nath Khajuria, Capt. Puran Singh, Joginder Lal and Bagwan Singh complimented Narendra Modi, Prime Minister for providing a relief package which certainly gave some respite to DPs and added that it cannot be accepted as final settlement as this package is nowhere near the loss of lives and properties the DPs has suffered. He said that JKSAC always pressed hard the central govt. to register the claims of their left-out properties in POK and simultaneously its compensation thereof. But the central govts. did not agree on the plea that acceptance of registration of claims would be inconsistent to the constitutional stand taken by GOI over POK. Any step in this regard could give rise to the feeling to the international forum that GOI has given up the hope for the return of the areas under illegal occupation of Pakistan. He said that repeated assurance made in parliament by GOI since 1994 that the area under illegal possession of Pakistan would be restored back, but unfortunately it is still confined to the files and no follow-up action has been taken either diplomatically or militarily. He said if the govt. really intend to settle DPs than the govt. shall have to accept alternative available with them i.e. recommendation of latets JPC Report to settle the DPs adequately. He said that DPs cannot be kept waiting for another seven decades as their three generations have passed struggling for their legitimate and constitutional rights. He further said that BJP govt. led by Narendra Modi possess the political will and capabilities to do justice with the neglected and deprived section of society. He said that with the creation of Union Territory the people in J&K particularly DPs has entered in a new era of hope and it was expected that in view of constitutional implications as asserted by GOI some other viable alternate solution would be found to settle the DPs, but unfortunately nothing happened as such till date despite of having JPC report in the hand of the govt. This issue could be resolved if the said report is implemented in letter and spirit.
