Red Cross Society Udhampur organizes Dengue awareness campaign

UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: Red Cross Society Udhampur conducted extensive Dengue awareness campaign in different locations and different sections of society of district Udhampur and asked the general public to take various precautionary measures to prevent spread of dengue.
Red Cross volunteers Rakesh Singh, Vikram Gupta, Ajay Kumar, Avtar Krishan and many others have while making aware the general public said that Dengue mosquito breeds in fresh stagnant water so in order to avoid their breeding we must remove all fresh stagnant water from home and adjoining areas regularly.
Keeping in view emergent of few cases of Dengue in Udhampur also District administration Udhampur has geared up its machinery to aware public about its causes, symptoms and preventive measures and Red Cross Society also as a part of it started pamphlet awareness campaign and distributed pamphlets to general public and also pasted it in prominent areas.
Rakesh Singh also appealed different Schools who are undertaking community classes to spray mosquito repellants in the classroom and ask students to wear full sleeves clothes.
Volunteers while interacting with public said that this mosquito cannot fly very high so it mostly bites at knees and ankles.
Symptoms of dengue may include high fever, chill and in extreme cases may reduce blood platelets due to which person show weakness and reduced appetite and if not treated timely may prove fatal.
