Target Killing of the Economy
10/22/2021 11:18:10 PM

Omkar Dattatray

The Terrorists no doubt have killed the non Kashmiri labourers and have spilled the innocent human blood but in effect it has resulted in the killing of the local economy. The economy of Jammu and Kashmir has been affected badly by the killing spree of the non locals as it has dealt a severe blow to the economy of the union territory and as such the enemies of the people and humanity have in fact damaged the economy of Jammu and Kashmir. Thus the killings of the non locals should be seen in the light of its impact on the state of the economy. The killings are very inhuman and should be condemned by one and all. At the same time it should be seen as to how the economy of the disturbed Jammu and Kashmir has been hit hard by the killings of non-Kashmiris. The thousands of the non locals have left the valley and it is very unfortunate not only in terms of the loss of humanity but also in terms of the loss to the local economy of Jammu and Kashmir. Hence those who are working for the so called freedom of Jammu and Kashmir should think eleven times before resorting to the wanton killings of the non locals as such unfortunate killings have also resulted in the loss to the economy of the disturbed valley. The construction activities and road works have been badly affected due exodus of the non-Kashmiris from the valley. The markets of Kashmir have been deserted because of the killings of the non locals who were contributing in a big way to the stability and growth of the local trade and business. There was big demand of the local goods and services due to the buying of the merchandise by the non-locals but because of the leaving of the valley by the non-locals due to the threat to their lives has resulted in big loss to the local trade and commerce and the killings of non Kashmiris should be seen in this respect. In fact the economy of the valley is in shambles because of the killings of the non locals as the markets of the goods and services have been badly affected and deserted by the ouster of the non locals. The fruit mandi of Sopore is an example in this regard as the ouster of the non locals has damaged the fruit market and resulted in the loss to the fruit merchants. Not only the fruit merchants are suffering losses but other ancillary goods and service dealers are also in loss due to the killing of the non locals as they have by and large left the valley and because of this the local traders are suffering losses. The atmosphere of fear and doubt and to be specific the fear psychosis has resulted in the low tourist foot fall and as such all those connected with the tourism industry directly and indirectly are suffering big losses. Thus the tourist industry on which many people depended for their livelihood is in doldrums because of the negligible number of the tourists mainly because of the element of fear among the tourists. The tour and travel operators are also hit badly by the low influx of the tourists and this has put the tourist industry to a great loss. The tourist industry is the foundation stone of the Kashmir economy and because of the threat perception of the non locals due to the killings of their members, the tourist trade and business has been badly affected as the tourists do not prefer to visit Jammu and Kashmir but they rather prefer other safe destinations outside Jammu and Kashmir and thus our union territory is suffering big losses. The non local labourers, carpenters, masons and other skilled and unskilled workers along with the tourists constitute a big chunk of the market but with the onset of the fresh violence of killings of the non locals it has brought havoc to the local economy. Because the economy of Jammu and Kashmir depends upon the contribution of the non locals including the tourists and when the non locals are leaving the valley and very few tourists coming to Jammu and Kashmir, it has become difficult for the tourism industry to sustain in such a surcharged atmosphere and all this resulted into big losses to the Jammu and Kashmir. The taxi owners, house boat owners, handicraft shops, hotels and restaurants and general provision stores and other related trades are running in losses due to the low foot fall of the tourists. All this is due to the unfortunate killings of the non locals at the behest of the Pakistan as that country does not like peace in Jammu and Kashmir and thus have the Pakistan backed and trained terrorists indulged in the killings of the local and non local people to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir. Our youth have been radicalized by the enemy state of Pakistan and hence they are indulging in violence and mayhem and are targeting the innocent non locals so that they will leave the valley. In this plan Pakistan has been successful to a vast extent as the non locals are leaving Jammu and Kashmir and returning to their homes in Bihar and Utter Pradesh and other states. With their leaving the union territory coupled with the negligible tourist in coming has resulted into big losses to Jammu and Kashmir industry and economy and this reality should be borne by those who champion the so called cause of the kashmiris. Thus those who wield gun and resort to killings of the non locals should see to it that their nefarious designs have resulted not only in the inhuman killings of the non locals but have also resulted into the loss to the economy of the UT which will not be made good easily. For the resilience of the economy, it is in the fitness of the things that the killings of the locals and non locals should be stopped for the interest of the humanity and the economy in the ultimate analysis. From the above it has become crystal clear that the target killings of the non locals are in effect the target killing of the economy of the UT. Therefore the violence and killings of the locals and non locals should stop for ushering an era of peace and development so that the economy of the Jammu and Kashmir is brought on the rails again. For this it is necessary that the forces of doom should realize their follies and shun the path of violence and mayhem and bring peace and prosperity to the disturbed Jammu and Kashmir so that the economy of the UT will shine again and in this lies the good of all. In brief, it can be safely said that there is no controversy in the fact that the target killing of the non locals is in effect the target killing of the economy in the ultimate analysis. Saving of the humanity and economy should be our objective and for this all of us should play our positive roles in order to usher an era of peace, tranquility and economic development otherwise we are forced to exclaim that the target killings of the non locals can be safely called as the target killing of the economy.
