Amit Shah’s visit: JK admin lobbies to seek extension of officials on deputation
‘Home Ministry should send fact finding team to know reasons behind public alienation’
10/22/2021 11:20:04 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 22: Even as the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir, the administration in J&K is busy lobbying to seek extension of services of officials whose deputation has either expired or is scheduled to end in the coming months.
Sources said for the last few days, a “team of bureaucrats” in Jammu and Kashmir has been busy lobbying with some local politicians and businessmen asking them seek “extension in services of some officials before the visiting dignitary.”
Ironically, while such officials are accused of silence on complaints of rising corruption and maladministration, the extension of their services is being sought before the Home Minister who is iconic for his discipline.
It’s pertinent to mention that Amit Shah believes in zero tolerance against corruption and misgovernance and wants the people to reap the benefits of good governance to its fullest.
Sources said a group of politicians and some so called civil society faces, especially those from the business community have been asked to shower praises on the present dispensation.
Sources alleged that “a team of officials” wants to mislead New Delhi over complaints of growing public alienation in the Union Territory.
While people from various walks of life have been accusing a “group of bureaucrats of behaving like viceroys”, the officials want to portray a different picture.
It’s pertinent to mention that the administration of Jammu and Kashmir has come under severe criticism for the allegedly worsening law and order situation in the UT in the wake of recent spike in civilian killings, when complaints of corruption have been already on rise.
While question are being raised over the security grid, the administration remained focused on holding celebrations even in tough times. On the day, when two schoolteachers were killed in Kashmir, the administration launched a three-day Jashne Kashmir in the Dal Lake.
“The administration didn’t even bother to send mortal remains of poor Gole Guppa wala Virendra Paswan to his native Bihar while locals in Kashmir performed his last rites in Srinagar. Ideally heads should have rolled on such callousness but no action was taken,” said an observer.
Bureaucracy is already believed to be divided over the complaints of misgovernance.
“The public alienation due to babu raaj is so high that BJP couldn’t sweep DDC elections even in Jammu. Honorable Home Minister Amit Shah Ji must get the complaints of mis-governance and corruption due to babu raaj probed because otherwise BJP is losing public support despite historic decision of the abrogation of the so called special status of Jammu and Kashmir,” said some concerned Jammuites.
