KVK Reasi farmer gets best farmer award in international conference at SKUAST-K

JAMMU, Nov 8: Angrez Singh, a resident of Mir village in Panchari block of Udhampur district and a progressive farmer of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) has been honoured with the 'Best Farmer Award' during the International Conference on "Saffron and Seed Spices-Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Development" held at SKUAST-K.
Singh received the award from the dignitaries in recognition for his contribution in achieving successful results in saffron farming in Panchari area of Udhampur district with the adoption of modern technologies recommended by SKUAST-K and KVK, Reasi scientists. Singh has established a saffron unit at his farm and producing the quality saffron under the technical guidelines of Division of Plant Biotechnology, SKUAST-K and KVK, Reasi.
Singh has emerged as an innovative farmer of his area by beating all the constraints. With his dedicated hard work, he has set an example for the other farmers of the area by the scientific saffron farming, scientific fruits and vegetables cultivation, floriculture, sheep farming etc. He has also established a high density fruit orchard in which he grows fruit plants of improved and hybrid varieties.
According to Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal our scientists regularly guide Singh on scientific cultivation of different crops and provide him all the required technical know-how. He added that his endeavours are appreciable and recognized at many levels. Singh has won many awards including the innovative farmer award from SKUAST-J during the Kisan Mela at SKUAST-J in 2021.
