Dr Sehrish reviews progress of JKRLM in Samba
Asks officials to promote rural livelihoods

SRINAGAR, Nov 11: Mission Director, Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar today convened a virtual meeting with the officials of Umeed to review the Block Wise progress of Rural livelihood Mission in District Samba and took stock of various indicators of Mission in the district. The meeting was attended by State project Managers JKRLM, District programme Managers, JKRLM Samba, Block programme Managers of blocks Vijaypur, Ghagwal, Samba, Purmandal and other officials from the MD office in person and through video conferencing.
While chairing the meeting, Dr Sehrish instructed the field officials of the Mission in the district that the funds released by the Mission to the Community Based organizations (CBOs) should be ensured to be released to the SHG members immediately for timely investment in their livelihood activities.
The Mission Director advised the officials to further strengthen and promote enterprises for enhanced livelihoods both in farm and non-farm activities. She stressed upon the BPMs to align the livelihoods activities in line with the One District One Product (ODOP), for boosting the local enterprises both the farm and non-farm Sector. Since there is a huge potential for value addition especially in Mushroom, Pickle, Kalari, dry mango powder etc in the blocks, which should be properly branded and marketed, she added
Dr Sehrish asked the BPMs to develop a detailed plan for various Financial Inclusion activities and ensure Self help groups (SHG) members are enrolled in various social security schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna (PMJJBY),Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna (PMSBY) ,Ayushman Bharat For this purpose the Mission has authorized to utilize the services of Financial Literacy Community Resource Persons (FLCRPS) in organizing the special drives in the district.
She exhorted upon the BPMs that the progress with respect to the indicators of Financial Inclusion should be visible in the coming month especially the credit linkage.
While updating the block progress the officials apprised the MD that in District Samba, Mission has presence across erstwhile blocks of Vijaypur, Ghagwal, Samba, Purmandal. Across the district 24,871 rural women have been federated into 2,574 SHGs and 190 Village organizations; whereas an amount of Rs 18.86 crore has been provided to the SHGs as capitalization from the Mission. In addition, the SHGs have been credit linked with the banks to the tune of Rs 53.44 crore.
The SHG members have invested the amount in different livelihoods like Mushroom units, poultry units, Clay pot making ,Jute bags, Dairy units, Handicrafts and Handloom ,pickle making, Besides under convergence various livelihood initiatives have been successfully initiated with the help of line departments.
