During the awareness program, Resources Persons educated the women about their Legal Rights available under different Statues. The resource persons also explained the provisions for making women equal partners in the decision-making process especially concerning policymaking.
The participants were also educated about several women centric schemes and welfare programs launched by the Government. They were motivated to avail the benefits of the schemes including those meant for their economic empowerment.
The participants were also imparted awareness on the fortnight-long program Swachhta Pakhwada which is being observed across the country to ensure mass participation of citizens in Swachhta activities and to truly transform Swachh Bharat Abhiyan into a citizens' movement.
The Secretary DLSA, while speaking on the occasion, said that the objective of the program is to make the women participants aware of their Legal Rights against any type of crime.
He added that due to lack of knowledge about the laws and other reasons, many women are suffering and fail to knock on the doors of the courts and seek justice.
Addressing the participants, the Deputy Commissioner who was also the chief guest at the event, said that women need to become self-reliant by securing sustainable livelihood for themselves and attain higher positions in the society.
"Women can bring a massive change in society and it is high time to provide them with a suitable platform where they can show their caliber", the DC added.
He said the District Administration Rajouri is working on a multi-pronged strategy to raise the socio-economic status of women and empower them by imparting skills and providing innovative solutions for their problems.
He informed that special craft training in using pine needles for making artifacts was organised for women SHGs recently. He said the district administration is intending to organise more such training sessions at sub-divisional and block levels.
Stressing on the importance of cleanliness and sanitation, the DC informed that Swatchta Pakwada is being observed across the country to lay intense focus on the practices of Swachhata.
He asked the women to play a lead role in keeping their localities clean and aware the society about the benefits of cleanliness and sanitation on health and the environment.
Highlighting the role of women in water conservation, the DC said that women can play a pivotal role in water conservation as they suffer the most in times of water scarcity.
He advised the women to work side by side with the District Administration for the peace, prosperity and development of the region.
On the occasion, a Swachata drive as a part of Swachhta Pakhwada was also carried out by the participants to spread the message of cleanliness and sanitation in society.
