Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 20: An online webinar on the topic "Cyber Crime and its Preventive Measures" under the aegis of Cyber Jagrookta (Awareness) Diwas was organized by GDC Purmandal on 20th of November, 2021 to create awareness among the students community on use of technology, Internet, Social media and its implications on possible cyber crimes. The resource person for the webinar was Cyber Crime expert Mohammad Yaseen Kichloo, SSP Security Civil Sectt., J&K. Principal of the college, Prof. Seema Mir formally welcomed the resource person and addressed the participants that online mode can never match up with classroom teaching. On the occasion the resource person Mohammad Yaseen Kichloo spoke at length about the IT Act which was introduced in 2000 to legalize E-Commerce and also to keep a breast with the fast paced internet world. He started his lecture by making the students aware about the internet which includes Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, Gmail etc. His approach was holistic in order to make the students understand about cyber crime. He said "Any unlawful act in which a computer, connected through the internet, is either a tool or a target or both is a cyber crime. Computer doesnot only mean desktop but it includes any digital device, except calculators' ' he added. These crimes include frauds, sexual exploitation, Phishing, extortion causing disrepute and personal revenge. The majority of the people whether they are teachers or students or very well read persons who have lot of knowledge about technology were having the wrong notion that they are very techno savvy but after listening to the vibrant and pleasing personality like Mohammad Yaseen Kichloo, many doubts were cleared by such an informative and enlightening lecture. Students keenly listened to the resource person and at the end interacted with the expert and cleared their queries. Prof. Shahima Akhter (Convener and Coordinator of Cyber Jagrookta Cell) conducted the proceedings of the session and also presented a vote of thanks at end.
