J&K lifts Super-7 Cricket Championship

JAMMU, Nov 21: J&K has won the 18th Youth National Super-7 Cricket Championship for Boys (Under-23) by beating Vidharbha in the finals played here today at MA Stadium.
On the fourth and final day of the ongoing championship, ex-Minister and senior BJP leader Sham Lal Sharma was the chief guest.
The Ist semi-final was played between J&K and Jharkhand. Batting first, Jharkhand was all out for 46 runs which was chased by J&K chase without the loss of any wicket in just 5 overs and entered the finals.
In the second semi-final, batting first Vidharbha made 76 runs in allotted 7 overs but its opponent MP failed to achieve the target and made only 57 runs while chasing and thus Vidharbha entered the final.
The match for the third place was played between MP and Jharkhand. Batting first MP made only 46 runs after loss of 4 wickets but Jharkhand could not survive and were all out on 41 runs.
In the final match, played between Vidharbha and Jammu and Kashmir, batting first Vidharbha team made only 54 runs in allotted 7 overs which was chased with ease by J&K team after losing only 2 wickets in 5.3 overs.
A cash prize of Rs 15000 was given to the winning Jammu Kashmir team while a cash prize of Rs 12000 was given to runners-up Team Vidharbha and Rs 10000 was given to Team Madhya Pradesh for securing third spot. The prizes, trophies and medals were distributed to the winning teams by the chief guest Sham Lal Sharma, Deputy Mayor Jammu Purnima Sharma, Mahant Rajesh Bittu and senior BJP leader Narayan Singh.
The championship was organized by the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir's Super Seven Cricket Association under the aegis of Super Seven Cricket Federation of India. 20 teams from various states of India viz Orissa, Karnataka, MP, UP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Vidharbha, Jharkhand, Bihar and HP took part in the championship.
