Vaccine booster dose can help
11/22/2021 10:29:44 PM
As the reports about breakthrough COVID-19 infections are coming to fore in Jammu and Kashmir, the experts are suggesting that the government should come up with a policy to provide vaccination booster doses to the people.
The COVID-19 cases are surging in Kashmir Valley and the people who have taken both the doses of vaccines are also getting infected. Experts are of the opinion that anti-bodies against the virus are on decline and people with weak immune system are likely to catch Covid again.
The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation in India (NTAGI) is drawing up a comprehensive plan for giving additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine to adults as the experts are suggesting so. The subject of additional doses for adults is significant as some nations have also called for solid protection against the highly contagious virus with booster doses.
Besides planning to give booster doses to adults, the vaccination drive for children with co-morbidities is likely to start by January next year and by March 2022 all children will become eligible for the COVID-19 jab.
Everyone is aware of the fact that if the virus raises its ugly head again, the situation can become volatile again. The government is trying to do whatever it can but more than authorities it’s the people who have to be careful and understand the gravity of the situation. They need to follow the SOPs in letter and spirit to prevent the COVID-19 from resurfacing. People not taking precautions has led to a surge in cases in Kashmir, especially in Srinagar district.
There are reports that 15 to 20 people having COVID are getting admitted in Srinagar hospitals everyday and the number is increasing.
At present there are not many COVID-19 cases in Jammu but one cannot say with authority that the cases won’t increase. People have to be more vigilant and active. The pestilence is on its last legs and we cannot allow it to make our lives miserable again.
The adults who have not got vaccinated till date should come forward and take a jab. We still need to maintain social distance and wear masks. The basics cannot be done away with till the virus is wiped out completely. People need to bear one thing in mind that cases are increasing and COVID-19 is contagious it can spread within no time. We need to learn from our past experiences.
