| NYK launches "Catch the Rain" campaign | | |  Early Times Report
DODA, Nov 25: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Doda organised the launching ceremony of ''Catch the Rain'' campaign in PWD Dak Bungalow Doda. The launching ceremony was attended by District Youth Officer Khushal Gupta, Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Roop K. Raina, A.E.E Jal Shakti Hafizullah Reshi, A.E.E Irrigation Sanjeev Gupta, J.E Rakesh Kumar, J.E Shahbaz Sharief besides National Youth Volunteers & Youth Clubs. Oath on water pledge was administered to all the participants during the commencement of the programme.
DYO Khushal Gupta spoke about the role of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan in spreading awareness about the importance of water conservation and its necessity in the current scenario. He also addressed that the NYK Volunteers will go door to door and make it a Jan Andolan so that rural households are made aware about the initiatives that can be taken to preserve rain water. A.E.E Hafizullah Reshi also extended cooperation to NYK Volunteers and spoke about the schemes and initiatives taken by the Jal Shakti Department to aware rural people. Sanjeev Gupta (T.O to S.E Irrigation) addressed that Catch the Rain campaign can only be successful when each household gets to know the worst condition of areas where water is scarce. He added that water table has dropped extensively during the last few decades and only rain water can overcome this scarcity. |
